Let me bring you up-to-date on what’s going on at MCH. I am sure that by this time you have heard much news about Mexico: drug wars, economy down and now days the swine flu (H1N1) virus).
I can assure you that Matamoros has been free of those incidents. All happenings have been somewhere else (Mexico is a large country!). Even though crime and violence are present in town - which city is free from those? none of which has been related to drug wars.
On the economy issue, well, you probably have also experienced the consequences of all this turmoil. We have been impacted as well. There are some things we can control and others that are completely out of our control. I have taken measures to reduce expenses all I can, unfortunately there are not many areas where I can reduce costs, for most of the expenses are related to provide for the children’s needs, but I can assure you that I stretch every dollar that comes to my hand and Maria does even a better job.
About the swine flu, well again, out of my control.
What we should do? Will these issues or future ones will dictate how we live? Will these or future events will lead us in the way we do ministry around the world?
I have mixed emotions. As a servant of God, I know that I have to engage in spreading His Word all over the world. Should I do it even in those risky places - unsafe or unhealthy? Or should I wait until everything comes back to “normal”? “

SAUL, CONCERNING THE SWINE FLU (H1N1) VIRUS
Just a short note to tell
you that everything down here is fine. As a
preacaution all schools have been closed until May 6. So
far it has been only one case of "possible" swine flu in
town. Most cases have been reported in Mexico city. I will
keep you posted on any developments. Just pray that God
protect all of us.

2008
SUMMER ACTIVITIES REPORT:
- We were able to feed, three times a day, over 200 persons year round!
- Provide clothes, education, transportation and medical care – praise God, last year we did not have many surgeries
- Remodel some of our old buildings and even start a couple of new projects. God is an awesome God!!!
Maria and I are thankful to God and invite you to join us in PRAISING HIM for all He did for us in 2008. You are His hands, reaching out to the needy. You are His feet helping us to deliver His message to our Country.
Maria and I are looking ahead for what the Lord will do in 2009. Will the falling economy interrupt God’s plan to reach out the lost? I don’t think so! Will the crumbling markets erode my FAITH or HOPE in Him? No! My hope is in the Eternal place He has prepared for me, not in my 401 K (I don’t even have one), and my faith tells me I will enjoy it one day, does not matter what happens to our economy.
Maria and I are committed to serve God the best we can, with all our hearts, mind and body. We are committed to you, to be the stewards of all the gifts you provide for the Ministry of Matamoros Children’s Home. Yes, there will be hard times...

what He wants to accomplish in your life and through your
life. We pray that God continues using you to partner with
us to serve the children and further His Kingdom in Mexico.

CHILDREN'S
HOME 2008 MISSIONS REPORT:
Yes,
we do mission work too! Here is a summary of what happened
in 2008...
- 500 missionaries spreading the Word in the Matamoros border area.
- 95 health professionals caring for the medical and dental needs of hundreds of patients in the mountains of Mexico.
- 5 new Churches (and I am talking of people, not buildings), established in the same area.
- Hundreds of pounds of clothing, food and water shared with hurting people after natural disasters, and the list can go on and on……….
Was 2008 a successful year for the Ministry of Matamoros
Children’s Home? Yes!!
An absolute yes!!
God received Honor and Glory in everything we did.
Lives
were changed by the Power of His Holly Spirit. HOPE was
brought into many families and young children.
